The research methodology for Love and Land: Female Landholders Norfolk Island 1788 – 1814 included the collating and cross referencing of all the primary records relating to land ownership, grants and leases, dwellings and land sizes and usage on Norfolk Island featuring women in addition to their husbands and defacto partners. This resulted surprising with 33 women owning land and/or being land tenants at one stage or another during the Island’s settlement 1788 – 1814.
